At least five individuals were injured in a clash between two rival groups of BNP supporters in Ashulia under Savar on Sunday afternoon.

The injured individuals are Kibria Sarker, his son Touhid Sarker, Haidar, Moksedur Rahman and Alam Parvez Bullet. Touhid was critically injured and admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The clash occurred in Hasan Colony area of Shreepur when disagreements between supporters of Kibria and Alam Parvez Bullet escalated into a violent confrontation.

According to locals, the dispute began over the placement of Dr Dewan Salauddin Babu’s campaign banners. Alam Parvez Bullet, along with his supporters, attacked the BNP office and a nearby tea shop, triggering a chase and counter-chase between the two groups.

Ashulia Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Rubel Howlader confirmed the incident and said that legal action will be taken if a written complaint is filed.

The clash stemmed from a dispute over election banners but clarified that no major loot or widespread destruction occurred, added the OC.
