Jamaat-e-Islami and 11-party alliance–backed candidate Professor Abu Taleb Mondol has unveiled his election manifesto outlining 48 development plans for the Pabna-4 (Ishwardi–Atgharia) constituency ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.
The manifesto was announced on Wednesday afternoon during a press briefing and exchange of views with journalists at the Ishwardi Press Club auditorium.
The program was presided over by Maulana Zahurul Islam, Nayeb-e-Ameer of Pabna district Jamaat-e-Islami. As the chief guest, Professor Abu Taleb Mondol personally read out the key points of the manifesto.
The manifesto places special emphasis on the development of education, healthcare, roads and transport, human resources, religious and social welfare, agriculture, industry, economic growth, physical infrastructure, and communication systems in Ishwardi and Atgharia upazilas.
Major proposals include construction of a flyover and underpass to ease traffic congestion at the level crossing rail gate in Ishwardi town, revival of the local airport, establishment of a modern agricultural college and training institute in Atgharia to promote education and human resource development, and upgrading the two government hospitals in Ishwardi and Atgharia to 100-bed facilities.
Other commitments include development of the Benarasi Palli, modernization of the railway junction station, implementation of a zero-tolerance policy against drugs in both upazilas, construction of a modern standard stadium, expansion of cultural activities, renovation of local football fields, introduction of modern agricultural practices, promotion of industrial and economic development, and construction of guide embankments to prevent erosion of the Padma River.
Professor Abu Taleb Mondol told journalists that all 48 local development plans outlined in the manifesto would be implemented if he is elected as a Member of Parliament.
The event was moderated by Golam Rabbani Jobayer Khan, Member Secretary of the Election Management Committee.
Among those present were Dr. Nuruzzaman Pramanik, Ameer of Ishwardi Jamaat-e-Islami; Maulana Amirul Islam, former Ameer of Atgharia Jamaat-e-Islami; Golam Azam Khan, Ameer of Ishwardi Municipal Jamaat-e-Islami; along with leaders and activists of the party at various levels.
