10 BNP leaders expelled at Gauripur

GAURIPUR, MYMENSINGH, Feb 11: A total of 10 leaders of Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal and Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal in Gauripur Upazila of Mymensingh have been expelled from their respective organisations for alleged involvement in activities that violated party discipline.

The decision was announced on Monday through two separate press releases issued by the Mymensingh District unit of Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal and the Mymensingh North District unit of Swechchhasebak Dal.

According to the press release, five leaders of the upazila and municipal units of Sramik Dal were expelled based on specific evidence of breaching party discipline. The expelled leaders are Md Billal Hossain, General Secretary of Gauripur Upazila Sramik Dal; Sultan Islam and Ashraful Islam, joint conveners of the Municipal unit; Md Jewel Mia, President of Bhangnamari Union unit; and Md Mozammel, its General Secretary.

The expulsion order was confirmed in a statement signed by Muhammad Abu Sayeed, President, and Md Mofidul Islam Mohan, General Secretary, of Mymensingh District Sramik Dal.

In a separate move, five leaders of Gauripur Upazila Swechchhasebak Dal were also expelled on the same grounds. They are Shahjahan Akand Suman, Joint Convener of the Upazila unit; Hossain Tarek, Zubayer Akash, Atiur Rahman Sohag, Joint Conveners of the Municipal unit; and Al Mahmud Roni, a member.

The Mymensingh North District unit of Swechchhasebak Dal said, in its press release that the leaders were expelled from all party posts, including primary membership. Party activists have also been instructed not to maintain any organisational contact with the expelled leaders.
