British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has expressed his eagerness to work closely with Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to deepen bilateral relations and advance shared priorities.
In a congratulatory letter following PM Tarique’s election victory and confirmation as prime minister, Starmer wrote, “I look forward to this next chapter in the partnership between our two countries.”
Highlighting the UK’s role as one of Bangladesh’s largest foreign investors, the British Prime Minister emphasised his commitment to expanding trade and investment links.
He noted the long-standing friendship between the two nations and expressed confidence that collaboration would grow further under Tarique Rahman’s leadership, building on shared values and historical ties.
Starmer also welcomed enhanced cooperation on key issues such as tackling illegal migration, addressing climate change and strengthening defence and security ties.
He reaffirmed the UK’s support for Bangladesh in hosting Rohingya refugees, praising the country’s generosity in providing shelter and assistance.
