Univ student killed in Savar road crash

An university student was killed in a road crash on the Dhaka–Aricha Highway in Savar on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Hasan Alvi Pulok, 24, son of Rafiqul Islam, a resident of Eidgah Bosti Residential Area in Dinajpur district. He was a BBA student of the 12th batch at the Army Institute of Business Administration (Army IBA).

According to police, the incident occurred on the Dhaka–Aricha Highway when Pulok was heading towards Savar Cantonment area on his motorcycle.

Pulok attempted to give way to an autorickshaw coming from the wrong side near Rauf Gate, lost control of his motorcycle and fell onto the road. At that time, a speeding truck then ran over him, killing him on the spot.

Confirming the incident on Friday afternoon, Savar Highway Police officer-in-charge (OC) Shahjahan Sheikh said that police recovered the body and sent it to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Savar for an autopsy.

Further legal action is underway, added the OC.
