Man killed over land dispute in Bagerhat

 
BAGERHAT, Feb 25: A man was killed and several others injured in a clash over ancestral land in Bagerhat on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Md Idris Ali Sheikh, 50, of Kalipur village in Bishnupur union under Sadar upazila. 

He died at Khulna Medical College Hospital in the evening while undergoing treatment after being severely beaten earlier in the day.

The injured were first admitted to Bagerhat District Hospital. Idris and two others were later referred to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where Idris succumbed to his injuries.

Md Masum Khan, officer-in-charge of Bagerhat Model Police Station, said Idris was critically injured in the clash and died during treatment. His body was sent for autopsy on Wednesday morning.

Police said a case is being processed and drives are underway to arrest those involved.
