Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has declared that teachers will be prohibited from engaging in secondary professions without prior administrative approval. Violations will trigger formal investigations and disciplinary action under existing regulations.

The minister made the remarks on Friday after a monthly coordination and law-and-order committee meeting at the Kachua Upazila Parishad Auditorium in Chandpur.

He stated, "If they want to engage in any other profession besides teaching, they will have to take prior permission from the concerned authorities. If anyone is involved without permission, an investigation will be conducted, and necessary action will be taken."

Framing the directive as a measure to restore classroom discipline, Milon stressed that teachers should focus on their primary duties to ensure quality education.

Addressing structural challenges in the sector, he noted that previous administrations had long failed to recruit enough teachers, causing persistent shortages. He urged patience, promising changes within two to four months.
