Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister and Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday urged health officials to take proactive steps to make Thakurgaon’s healthcare system more efficient and people-friendly.

He made the remarks during a visit to Thakurgaon Modern Sadar Hospital on Sunday morning.

During his visit to the hospital in his constituency at around 9:00 AM, he inspected different wards and later spoke to journalists.

He emphasised the need to strengthen the district’s overall healthcare management to ensure better and more accessible services for the public.

The BNP secretary general also announced that Thakurgaon Modern Sadar Hospital will be upgraded to a 500-bed facility to meet the growing healthcare demands of the area.

He described the hospital as clean and well maintained but said that further improvements in the management system are necessary to enhance service quality.

Mirza Fakhrul directed Hospital Superintendent Dr Firoz Jewel to prepare and submit a list of requirements needed to provide maximum healthcare services to local residents, assuring him of necessary support.

He added that healthcare services could be significantly improved if doctors, nurses and other staff members carry out their responsibilities with sincerity and professionalism.

The minister further announced that a medical college will be established in the district soon, expressing optimism that Thakurgaon’s health sector will witness substantial development in the coming days.
