TANGAIL, Mar 9: Mosharraf Hossain, 40, from the Kirtankhola Village in Sakhipur Upazila of Tangail, went to Saudi Arabia eight years ago with the dream of bringing solvency to his impoverished family. He worked as a cleaner at a company near the city of Al Kharij. Mosharraf Hossain was killed in an Iranian missile attack on Sunday (March 8) while working there.
His family is now waiting to know when Mosharraf's body will be brought back home.
Mosharraf Hossain is the son of Md. Surjat Ali and Johura Begum from Kirtankhola Village. He leaves behind his wife and two sons. Mosharraf's elder son Mahim studies in class nine at a local school, and his younger son Mihan is in class one.
Mosharraf had last come home on leave three years ago for only three months. He then returned to Saudi Arabia to support the family.
Mosharraf's wife, Kobori Akter, said, she had spoken with her husband late the previous night, on Saturday. He had said he would send money for Eid and buy something for the two boys. Who knew those would be his last words? In the early hours of Sunday, around 3 am, relatives in Saudi Arabia informed them that Mosharraf was no more.
Upon hearing the news of her son's death, Mosharraf's mother, Johura Begum, repeatedly fell unconscious. "I want my son's body back quickly," she said. "My youngest grandson Mihan still cannot understand. He does not know his father will never return home. I seek help from the government and everyone."
Sakhipur Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Abdullah Al Rony said efforts are underway, in contact with the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, to bring the body back to the country quickly. The affected family will be provided with government assistance.
