Govt firm to provide healthcare at nominal cost: Sohel Monzoor

PIROJPUR, Mar 10: The newly constructed 250-bed hospital will soon begin services on a limited scale, though not in a fully-fledged manner. 
This was stated by State Minister for Housing and Public Works Ahammed Sohel Monzoor Suman, MP, on Tuesday morning. He spoke as the chairman of the hospital management committee during a meeting at the district hospital in the town.
The government is committed to providing healthcare to the general public at their doorsteps at a nominal cost, he added. 
The Minister presided over the meeting, which was attended by Deputy Commissioner Abu Sayed, Civil Surgeon Dr. Motiur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Police Abdul Awal, Deputy Director of Family Planning Tuhin Kanti Ghose, Deputy Director of Social Services Iqbal Kabir, and other committee members.
Construction of the nine-storied hospital building was completed three years ago. However, four lifts could not be installed due to price hikes and a shortage of other logistics, which has prevented the hospital from becoming operational for patients.
The Minister is on a three-day official tour of the district. On Monday morning, he inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Napitkali Bridge under the Roads and Highways Directorate in the Nesarabad Upazila of the district.
Speaking at another meeting, the Minister stated that corruption, terrorism, and drugs must be controlled in our society and the country.
