Worker killed in Naogaon lightning strike

A farm worker was killed and another person injured after being struck by lightning in Naogaon’s Manda upazila on Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Pintu Rahman, 35, son of Moslem Uddin from Chakramapur Middle Para village. He was a farm worker by profession.

The injured person is Abdul Hakim, also a resident of the same area.

According to locals, the incident occurred around 9:00 AM in a field at Chakramapur village under Bishnupur union in the upazila.

Pintu was working in Abdul Hakim’s Boro paddy field when a sudden lightning strike hit the area. Both Pintu Rahman and Abdul Hakim were seriously injured in the incident.

Later, locals rescued them and rushed them to Manda Upazila Health Complex for treatment but Pintu died on the way to the hospital.

Bishnupur Union Parishad Chairman Golam Azam confirmed the death.
