Madrasa student dies of snakebite in Naogaon

A madrasa student died after being bitten by a snake in Naogaon’s Porsha upazila early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Mehedi Hasan, 16, son of Jasim Uddin, a resident of Masterpara area. Mehedi was a Hifz student of Nitpur Masterpara Hafezia Madrasa and.

According to locals, the incident occurred around 10:00 PM when Mehedi went to a cowshed beside his house to hang a mosquito net for cattle. At that time, a snake bit him.

He soon fell ill and was rushed to Porsha Upazila Health Complex, where he was administered anti-venom.

However, as his condition deteriorated, he was being taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment but he died on the way to the hospital.

Porsha Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Ziaur Rahman confirmed the death..

“No complaint has been filed by the family in this regard,” added the OC.
