BIRAL, DINAJPUR, Mar 29: A mobile court in Biral Upazila seized 52.5 litres of petrol from Dharmapur Mirapara Village on Friday, ruling it had been stored illegally for resale at inflated prices.
Under the Petroleum Act 2016, Mahinur Islam, son of Nuruzzamal Manik of Gopinathpur Village, was sentenced to five-day imprisonment and fined Tk 6,000. Jahangir Alam of Dharmojain Village was fined Tk 3,000, while Yanur Siam of Bajitpur Village in Parbatipur was fined Tk 1,000.
The confiscated fuel was sold to locals at government-fixed prices, with Tk 6,090 deposited into the state treasury. The mobile court was led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Ishtiaq Ahmed.
