Madrasa teacher held for 'abusing' student in Dinajpur

Police have arrested a madrasa teacher on charges of sexually assaulting a student at Hili area of Hakimpur upazila in Dinajpur district.

The accused named Saiful Islam is a teacher at Banshmuri Hafezia Madrasa in Hili by profession.

According to the complaint, the accused had been sexually assaulting a student for a long time. After the family came to know about the matter, the victim's relatives filed a written complaint with the police station.

Based on the complaint, Hakimpur police station conducted a drive on Saturday night and arrested the accused.

Police sources said that a written complaint from the victim's family has been received and legal proceedings are underway regarding the incident. 

Police added that this will be investigated seriously and strict action will be taken if found guilty.
