A drone has been seized for allegedly flying in the VIP area of Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport without permission.
It was seized around 8:37PM on Sunday when it was being used to capture video footage in front of the VIP Pole Gate during the arrival of players of the SAFF Championship.
Preliminary investigation found that the drone was being operated without prior permission from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) in violation of existing regulations.
The seized drone is a 'DGI Mavic-4 Pro' model.
According to the CAAB, ''Drone Registration and Operation Policy 2020'', airport areas are designated as ‘red zones’, where flying drones without special authorisation from the concerned authorities is strictly prohibited.
Officials said necessary legal action will be taken against such unauthorised activities to ensure overall security at the airport.
