Tourism Malaysia is promoting the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign through its participation in a sales mission to Chattogram and the Dhaka Travel Mart (DTM) 2026, held in Bangladesh from April 6-11, 2026.

Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, also known as Tourism Malaysia, is an agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC). It focuses on promoting Malaysia as a preferred tourism destination and has, since its establishment, played a significant role in strengthening the country's presence and competitiveness in the global tourism landscape.

Marking its 14th participation in DTM since its inception in 2002, the Malaysian delegation is led by Solehuddin Ahmad, Deputy Director of the International Promotion Division (Asia and Africa). The delegation comprises representatives from the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC), Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) as well as key travel trade partners including tour operators and airlines.

In response to the growing demand for diverse and unique travel experiences, Malaysia continues to broaden its tourism offerings to cater a wide range of travellers. Efforts are also being intensified to promote niche segments such as medical tourism, educational tourism and eco-tourism particularly to attract visitors from Bangladesh and the wider South Asian region.

Mohd Amirul Rizal Abd Rahim, Director-General of Tourism Malaysia said, "Bangladesh remains an important market for Malaysia and we are committed to strengthening our presence while working closely with tourism stakeholders to further drive the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign across this region."

Tourism Malaysia's participation in DTM 2026 serves as a strategic platform to enhance Malaysia's visibility, showcase its diverse tourism products and strengthen partnerships with Bangladeshi counterparts. The business-to-business (B2B) sessions also provide valuable opportunities to explore new collaborations and deepen industry engagement.

In 2025, Malaysia recorded a total of 42,196,892 international visitor arrivals, including 281,492 visitors from Bangladesh.

This represents a significant increase of 82.1 per cent compared to the previous year, reflecting strong demand and continued recovery in this market. In terms of connectivity, there are currently 41 direct weekly flights between Dhaka and Malaysia, offering approximately 11,340 seats. These routes are served by Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air, AirAsia, Biman Bangladesh Airlines and US-Bangla Airlines.
