Trader found dead in Rajshahi pond

Police recovered the body of a trader from a pond in Bagha upazila of Rajshahi district on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Sanaullah Chanar, 45, son of late Khalil Uddin, a resident of Habaspur village. Sanaullah was a tea seller at Monigram Bazar.

According to police, locals spotted the body floating in a pond adjacent to Monigram Technical School and College, about 500 metres north of Monigram Bazar and informed police.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to hospital for an autopsy.

Bagha Police Station officer-in-charge (Investigation) Suprabhat Mondal said the body was later handed over to the family and buried at the family graveyard the same night.

He added that an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death and further details will be known after receiving the autopsy report.
