A clash between students of the University of Dhaka and doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Wednesday afternoon led to the suspension of services at the hospital's emergency unit.

The emergency gate remained locked until 9 pm.
Several people from both sides were reportedly injured in the incident, which hospital authorities said prompted a temporary halt to emergency operations on security grounds.

The conflict reportedly erupted when a student, advised to purchase unavailable government medicine from a private pharmacy, returned with classmates to confront staff.

"What kind of medicine did you prescribe? It isn't available anywhere," students reportedly shouted before the dispute turned physical. The ensuing chases across hospital premises left several injured.

Police Inspector Md Faruk confirmed that additional forces were deployed to control the brawl triggered by the prescription row. While security has been bolstered, the ongoing suspension of care has left hundreds of patients in limbo. Both sides have traded accusations over who initiated the aggression, leaving the hospital atmosphere tense.
