Australian delegation calls on PM

A 13-member parliamentary delegation from Australia led by the Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives Milton Dick MP paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat.

Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal, Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed were present at the meeting. 

Prime Minister's Press Secretary Saleh Shibly said during the meeting, they discussed issues of mutual interest including ways to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance parliamentary cooperation between the two countries. 

Later, the delegation joined the afternoon's sitting of the Parliament to observe the ongoing session.

Welcoming the Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives and his delegation, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram told the Parliament, "I am pleased to inform the House that a 13-member parliamentary delegation from Australia, led by the Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives, Milton Dick MP, is here and observing today's ongoing session."
