Tantidal leader stabbed to death in Khulna

Khulna, Apr 12: A leader of Jatiyatabadi Tantidal was stabbed to death by miscreants in Khulna City late Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Md. Sonamia, Convener of Ward No. 10 unit in the city of the organization. 
He was the son of Jabbar Sardar of Nayabati area under Khalishpur Thana.
The incident occurred around 12.05 am in the Nayabati area of Khalishpur. Police, however, could not arrest anyone in this connection till noon.
Locals said Sonamia owned a variety store in the area and used to return home after closing his shop late at night. 
On Saturday night, three youths riding a motorcycle attacked him when he was at his shop. The assailants stabbed him indiscriminately with sharp weapons, causing injuries.
Seeking to save his life, Sonamia took shelter in a nearby house, but the attackers chased him there and stabbed him again, leaving him critically injured.
He was first taken to a local clinic and later shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Sub-Inspector Palash Kumar Roy of Khalishpur Police Station said, although the incident took place shortly after midnight, police were informed around 12:30 am. After completing the inquest report, the body was sent to the morgue.
