A fire that broke out at an 11-storey building in the capital's Banani kitchen market area has been brought under control after efforts by seven firefighting units.
According to the Fire Service, the blaze originated in a clothing warehouse on the 11th floor of the building. The fire was first reported at around 6:30 PM, after which five units rushed to the scene and began initial firefighting operations. Later, two additional units joined, bringing the total to seven.
Fire Service media officer Anwarul Islam confirmed the development around 8:15 PM.
Authorities said the cause of the fire could not be immediately determined. No casualties have been reported in the incident.
