DINAJPUR, Apr 20: Police and firefighters recovered the bodies of a husband and wife from the floor of a house after a fire broke out in Dinajpur town early Monday.
The incident took place around 1:00am in the Suihari Ashrampur area, according to Fire Service officials.
The deceased were identified as Tapan Roy, 50, and his wife Lata Rani, 42, residents of the area.
Fire Service sources said locals first noticed the fire at the house around midnight on Sunday and informed the authorities. After receiving information, firefighters rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control.
During a search of the house, firefighters found the bodies of the couple lying on the floor in a burnt condition.
Police and Fire Service officials said the cause of the fire could not be immediately determined.
Confirming the matter, Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Noor Nabi said the bodies were recovered and sent to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
