One nabbed with gold, diamond jewellery in Khulna

KHULNA, Aug 29: Police arrested a man along with gold and diamond jewellery during a checkpoint inspection in Khulna.
Md Saidul, 46, of Muradnagar Upazila in Cumilla District, was arrested on Friday near Zero Point intersection on the Khulna-Satkhira highway, according to a Khulna Metropolitan Police press release issued on Friday night. He currently lives in Keraniganj of Dhaka.

Police recovered three gold chains, a diamond-studded gold locket, 45 diamond-studded gold nose pins, 12 pairs of earrings, eight lockets, three rings and two bracelets, the release said.

Saidul was arrested by officers from Harintana Police Station during a check in front of Janani Enterprise, police said.

A case was filed under sections 25(B) and 25(D) of the Special Powers Act, 1974. Police said an investigation is underway to determine whether the jewellery was smuggled into Bangladesh.
