Sixty-five SSC examinees from two schools in Palashbari upazila of Gaibandha district were finally able to sit for their exams on Tuesday after receiving their admit cards, just hours before the examination.
According to Upazila Academic Supervisor Alamgir Hossain, the students arrived at their respective exam centers with their admit cards nearly one and a half hours before the examination began.
''All uncertainties regarding their participation due to the lack of admit cards have been resolved. Now candidates from the two institutions have appeared for the examination,'' he added.
The affected students included 29 from Gridharipur Adarsha High School and 36 from Jundah High School. On Monday afternoon, they approached the Palashbari UNO after failing to receive their admit cards from their schools. When no immediate solution was found, the students and their guardians blocked a road around 9PM on Monday near Adarsha Degree College area and a nearby filling station in Palashbari town.
The blockade caused significant disruption, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded on both sides of the highway. Upon receiving information, UNO Sheikh Jaber Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Al Iyasha Rahman Dapadar, and local police officals rushed to the scene.
The officials assured the students that the issue would be resolved promptly and confirmed that urgent communication had been established with the education board to deliver the admit cards within the night.
Following the assurance, the protesters withdrew the blockade around 9:45PM. The students subsequently received their admit cards and were able to attend their examinations as scheduled the next morning.
