Four people, including a van driver were reported dead when a truck hit a ‘Mithila van’ in Nilphamari’s Domar. Three of the deceased belong to same family and two more were critically injured in the accident.
The accident took place on Sunday (July 12) afternoon in the Matokpur Nadirpar area of the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Mithila van driver Parimal Barman (40), son of Oli Barman of Nadiyapara under Panga Matokpur union in Domar upazila; Pratima Barman (30), wife of Parimal's younger brother Pradeep Barman; and her two children Bipasha Barman (8) and Jadab Barman (4).
Police and local sources confirmed, the family was going to attend a wedding ceremony at Moraler Danga area under Boragai union of Domar upazila. A speeding truck lost control in the Matokpur Nadirpar area and hit the passenger-carrying Mithila van from behind.
After the collision, the truck fell beside the road. Van driver and three members of the same family died on spot while two other seriously injured were rushed to hospital.
Domar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Habibullah said police were sent to the spot. The bodies will be recovered and handed over to the family after legal procedures.
