GOPALGANJ, Apr 25: Member of Parliament for Gopalganj-2 Dr KM Babar has said that the education system that existed over the past 17 years is now changing.
He said improving the quality of education requires development in all aspects, not just academics. "When students come to school and can engage themselves in studies alongside sports, mental development and knowledge acquisition, only then real progress will take place. If students achieve complete intellectual development, the overall quality of education will improve," he said.
"We will do whatever is necessary to ensure the improvement of education quality," he added.
He made the remarks on Saturday at around 11 am after inaugurating a new building of Binapani Government Primary School (No. 102) in the district town, implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).
The MP further said that everything possible will be done for Gopalganj. "The Prime Minister has said that Gopalganj will not be treated separately. It will receive development like any other district. I hope the people of Gopalganj will not be deprived of anything," he said.
According to LGED sources, under the Primary Education Development Programme-4 of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, construction work of Beda Gram Government Primary School (No. 93) and Haridaspur Government Primary School (No. 32) was also inaugurated.
In addition, under the Upazila and Union Road Expansion and Strengthening Project, the Gopinathpur-Ghaghadhalitola road, and under the Rural Connectivity Improvement Project, the Chandradighalia RHD-Bardiya GC-Modhumoti Bazar road were also inaugurated.
In total, five development projects worth Tk 45.70 crore were inaugurated.
Among others present were LGED Executive Engineer Md Ehsanul Haque, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kaushik Ahmed, District BNP Member Ziaul Kabir Bipul, Sadar Upazila BNP President Sikder Shahidul Islam Lenin, District Jubo Dal President Riaz Uddin Lipton, along with teachers and local political leaders.
