The Opposition leader and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer, Dr Shafiqur Rahman, has called on Bangladeshi expatriates in Japan to utilize their acquired skills and experiences to help build a prosperous nation while further strengthening bilateral ties.

He made the remarks while addressing the Central Member Conference and Education Camp 2026, organized by the Islamic Mission Japan (IMJ) at Gamo Hall in Koshigaya city, Saitama Prefecture.

The daylong event served as a major gathering and directional platform for the Bangladeshi diaspora in Japan, aimed at elevating moral standards and promoting Islamic values within the local society.

Speaking as the chief guest, Dr. Shafiqur highlighted Japan’s global reputation for hard work, discipline, and punctuality. He urged expatriates to master modern technologies and adopt Japan's exemplary work culture to contribute significantly to Bangladesh's development.

Describing Japan as a genuine friend that has aided Bangladesh’s progress since independence, he noted that expatriates can further solidify this relationship through honesty, punctuality, and responsible behavior.

Touching upon the current political landscape, the opposition leader stated that the recent student-led mass uprising has opened a new horizon for Bangladesh. He emphasized that expatriates must play a crucial role alongside domestic efforts to make this democratic transformation sustainable and successful by investing their knowledge and resources back home.

The event also featured prominent political figures as special guests. Jamaat-e-Islami Central Executive Council member and Member of Parliament Saiful Alam Khan Milon stressed the necessity of unity amidst global challenges and divisions within the Muslim Ummah. He called for a united platform for all Bangladeshis in Japan, including students, professionals, and businesspeople, stating that solidarity is their greatest strength.

Additionally, Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem Arman, MP and foreign affairs adviser to the Jamaat Ameer, delivered a religious lecture based on Surah Al-Ma'idah. He emphasized the traits of true believers, noting that unwavering faith, deep brotherhood, and a fearless commitment to justice and truth are essential for ultimate success.

Presiding over the conference, IMJ Central President Hafez Maulana Chaber Ahmad reminded attendees that their responsibilities extend beyond organizational boundaries to encompass the welfare of the entire Bangladeshi community in Japan.

He advocated for mutual cooperation, a mindset of assisting one another during crises, and a strong sense of social responsibility to build an ideal expatriate community.

The conference, which began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, concluded in an emotional atmosphere with a special prayer seeking peace, progress, and prosperity for Bangladesh, the host nation, and the global Muslim community.
