Slain Bangladeshi student Limon's body arrives in Dhaka

The body of Jamil Ahmed Limon, a doctoral student who tragically killed in Florida, arrived in Dhaka on Monday morning.

Emirates Airlines Flight EK582, carrying his remain, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 8:47AM.

Limon's uncle Mortuza Sheikh Jashim was present at the airport alongside other members of the family to receive the body. 

He told the media that the body would be taken to the family's ancestral home in Jamalpur's Madarganj upazila. 

In a statement, the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington said Limon’s body was sent from Orlando International Airport around 8:50PM local time on Sunday.

Earlier, his namaz-e-janaza was held at an Islamic society in the Tampa Bay area around 2PM local time on Thursday (April 30). Students from the University of South Florida and members of the Bangladeshi community attended the janaza.

Limon, 27, who was pursuing his PhD at the University of South Florida, had been missing since April 16. Following an intensive search, local police recovered Limon’s body on April 24. 

Police arrested Limon's roommate, US national Hisham Abugharbieh, from his family home on suspicion of involvement in the killings.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Limon's body was recovered on April 24 from several black garbage bags near the Howard Frankland Bridge area in Florida following the suspect’s interrogation.

Nahida Sultana Brishty, another doctoral student, had also been missing since April 16. On April 24, authorities found partial remains of Brishty in a water body in Florida.
