Police have detained 40 people from Dhaka Medical College Hospital on suspicion of acting as brokers.

Shahbagh Police chief Md Moniruzzaman said an anti-broker drive was carried out from Monday morning to noon.

"We have detained 40 people and handed them over to a mobile court. The court will decide their fate," he said.

Allegations indicate that some detainees are representatives of pharmaceutical companies. By noon, crowds of company officials gathered outside the police station seeking their release.

"Among those detained are brokers as well as medical representatives," the officer added.    "bdnews24
