Bangladesh Railway has announced the schedule for advance train ticket sales ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha to ensure a smoother journey for holiday travellers across the country.

According to the official directive, online sale of advance tickets for Eid travel will begin on May 13, while advance return tickets will be available from May 21.

Under the schedule, tickets for May 23 journeys will be sold on May 13. Tickets for May 24 will be available on May 14, while tickets for May 25 will go on sale on May 15. Similarly, tickets for May 26 will be sold on May 16, and tickets for May 27 journeys will be available on May 17.

For return journeys after Eid, tickets for May 31 will be sold on May 21. Tickets for June 1 will be available on May 22, while June 2 tickets will go on sale on May 23. Tickets for June 3 and June 4 journeys will be sold on May 24 and May 25 respectively.

Railway authorities said each passenger will be allowed to purchase advance tickets only once for both onward and return journeys, with a maximum limit of four tickets per transaction.

The directive also stated that advance Eid tickets and return journey tickets will not be refundable.

To ease passenger pressure during the Eid rush, Bangladesh Railway will additionally sell standing tickets equivalent to 25 percent of total seat capacity, excluding higher-class categories, from station counters on the day of travel.

Return journey tickets during the Eid period will be issued daily from 8:00am following the announced schedule.
