Two electrocuted in two districts

Two people were electrocuted in separate incidents in Paikgacha Upazila of Khulna District and Chatmohar Upazila of Pabna District in two days.

PAIKGACHA, KHULNA: A worker who went fishing in a shrimp enclosure in Koyasitibunia Village of Chandkhali Union in Paikgacha Upazila of the district was electrocuted on Saturday morning.

According to local sources, electricity was connected to the shrimp enclosure of Iqbal Haji of the village through a bamboo pole to light a bulb at night. 

Iman Morol, 40, who went to the enclosure to fish with nets under a wage contract, slipped from the embankment of the enclosure and got entangled with the power line. He was seriously injured lost unconsciousness.

Later, other workers and local people rescued him and took him to Paikgacha Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead at 12:25 pm. 

The family members of the deceased took the body to their home in Gazalia. Police sources said that legal action is under process in this incident.

CHATMOHAR, PABNA: A female worker died after being electrocuted while blowing paddy in the yard of Chatmohar Upazila of the district on Friday afternoon.

The deceased was Taslima Khatun, 35, wife of Shafiqul Islam of Bongram in Parshadanga Union of the upazila.
Officer-in-Charge of Chatmohar Police Station Md Golam Mostafa confirmed the incident and said that Taslima died on the spot after being electrocuted while trying to connect a fan to blow paddy in the yard of Jahangir, son of Moslem Uddin, of the same area on Friday around 5 pm. The body has been recovered. Further legal action will be taken.
