In a tragic incident at Daganbhuiyan upazila of Feni district, a drug-addicted young allegedly stabbed his mother to death and critically injured his father and sister on Sunday.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:00 PM at Dilpur village, under Sindurpur union of the upazila.

The deceased has been identified as Gulshan Ara Begum Lucky, 40. The injured victims are her husband, Mostafa Bhuiyan, 50, and their daughter, Mithila Mostafa Sahara, 18.

Police have arrested the accused son Mosharraf Hossain Rafi, 20.

According to family members, Rafi had been struggling with drug addiction for a long time. His parents frequently disciplined him and urged him to reform, which reportedly led to growing tension and resentment.

Allegedly Rafi planned the attack in advance, purchasing two sharp knives online specifically to kill his parents and attacked his family members on Sunday night.

Hearing theircry for help, neighbors rushed to the house and rescued the trio, initially taking them to Daganbhuiyan Upazila Health Complex.

They were later referred to Feni General Hospital but Gulshan Ara succumbed to her injuries on the way. The father and daughter are currently undergoing treatment and are reported to be out of danger.

The victim's sister-in-law, Sharifa, has filed a murder case with Daganbhuiyan Police Station.

Muhammad Faizul Azim Noman, the Officer-in-Charge (OC), confirmed that the two knives used in the killing have been recovered.

He stated that Rafi has provided a detailed account of the incident and has consented to give a confessional statement in court.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Feni General Hospital for an autopsy, the OC concluded.
