Girl electrocuted in Noakhali

NOAKHALI, May 11: A girl named Otithi Rani Das, 13, was electrocuted while charging her mobile phone in Ward No. 6 of Charfakira Union in Companiganj Upazila of the district on Sunday night.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Companiganj Police Station (PS) Md Nurul Hakim confirmed the matter.

The deceased was the daughter of Gopal Chandra Jal Das of the area and a class six student of the local Charfakira High School.

Acting Chairman of Charafkira Union Parishad Mizanur Rahman said that after the girl was electrocuted, she was seriously injured and fell to the ground. Her family members arranged for treatment locally. Later, when her condition deteriorated, she died while being prepared to be taken to the hospital.

Companiganj PS OC Md Nurul Hakim said that an unnatural death case has been filed in this incident.
