A woman was detained for allegedly attempting to slit her husband's throat at Babupara area of Lalmonirhat municipality.
The victim was identified as Hridoy, 24, from Gausia Mosque area of the upazila.
The accused wife is , Umme Jannat Sathi, 26.
According to local sources and police, the couple had been embroiled in a long-standing family dispute. During a heated argument over domestic issues, Sathi allegedly attacked Hridoy with a 10-inch sharp knife, striking him in the neck.
Neighbors and family members, alerted by Hridoy's screams, rescued him and took him to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital. He was later transferred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
Sathi was also reportedly injured during the altercation and is currently receiving medical care under police supervision.
Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Saad Ahmed confirmed the detention and stated that the blood-stained weapon has been recovered.
An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the dispute and legal proceedings are currently in progress, the OC added.
