Mason kills woman for snatching earrings

FENI, May 16: Saiful Islam, the arrested, has confessed to strangling to death Rina Akhter, the wife of an expatriate, for gold earrings to pay his installment money in Chochna Village of Sharshadi Union in Feni Sadar Upazila on Tuesday afternoon.

The PBI arrested him from Bayezid Bostami area of Chattogram City on Thursday morning. Feni PBI Superintendent of Police Ukya Singh informed this at a press briefing at his office on Thursday.

During interrogation, Saiful told the police that on Tuesday, NGO workers pressured him for the installment money. That afternoon, he went to work as a mason in Rina Akhter's under-construction house. At that time, he saw her gold earrings. 

As Rina Akhter prevented him from snatching the earrings, he strangled her. Later, he buried the body in a hole dug inside the house.
