Newly appointed vice-chancellor Professor Mohammad Iqbal at Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) has been barred to enter the campus, as the students are continuing their pre-announced 'DUET blockade' program.

The blockade, which began on Monday morning, paralyses the whole campus which began on Monday morning.

The protesting students locked the university's main gate and took positions on campus, halting the entrance of the officials and employees.

The students said their agitation would continue until the appointment of newly appointed Vice Chancellor Dr Mohammad Iqbal is cancelled.

''We won’t accept the appointment of the new VC in any way.''

They also demanded justice for those allegedly attacked and injured DUET students during clashes the previous day.

Meanwhile, on Sunday night, the Duetians announced that any kind of politics will be allowed on the campus, none will be allowed to do politics on behalf of the party in DUET.

At least 25 people, including five policemen, were injured in a clash between two groups on the campus on Sunday centering the joining of newly appointed  VC.

The unrest began after the government appointed Dr Mohammad Iqbal of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology as the new VC of DUET.
