KAHAROL, DINAJPUR, May 21: Mir Mohsin Chowdhury Mamun of Kaharol Upazila in Dinajpur has built a successful indigenous cattle and buffalo farm, starting from just three cattle in 2018 after leaving a private job in Dhaka.

He has now developed "Prithibi Dairy Farm" at Club Mor in Ramchandrapur Union, which currently houses 76 cattle heads, including cows and buffaloes, and has become a local attraction.

Mamun, who holds degrees in economics, LLB and LLM, said he left his job to pursue livestock farming and gradually expanded the farm through natural rearing methods and hard work.

The farm uses traditional feeding practices with natural food and maintains hygienic conditions, according to sources.
A Sahiwal breed bull named "Lal Mia", weighing around 700 kg, has drawn particular attention. The animal has become a local attraction, with visitors regularly visiting the farm.

"We have raised Lal Mia completely on natural feed without any harmful injections or artificial methods. It has been prepared for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha and its price has been fixed at around Tk 5 lakh," Mamun said.

He added that the farm has also prepared around seven other bulls for sale, priced between Tk 1 lakh and Tk 3 lakh. At present, the farm has 42 sale-ready bulls and 15 buffaloes.

Locals said the farm has inspired many young people to consider livestock farming as an alternative source of income.
Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Md Abu Sarfaraz Hossain said the farm is regularly monitored and provides a good example of natural livestock rearing.
