Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md Safiqul Islam Khan Milton on Saturday alleged that certain individuals and vested groups were using artificial intelligence (AI)-generated images of waste to spread misinformation and tarnish the image of the government and the city corporation.

He made these remarks at a press conference held at DNCC's Nagar Bhaban in Gulshan-2 while briefing journalists on the progress of post-Eid waste management activities.

The administrator claimed that DNCC had successfully completed the removal of sacrificial animal waste across its jurisdiction, clearing a total of 18,344 tonnes of waste during the 72 hours following Eid-ul-Adha.

He credited the timely completion of the operation to the awareness and cooperation of city residents and thanked them for their support.

“DNCC is working relentlessly to build a clean, green and livable city,” he said.

Referring to criticism on social media, Safiqul Islam Khan alleged that some people had attempted to create confusion by circulating fake images generated through artificial intelligence.

“Certain individuals and vested interests have tried to mislead the public by spreading AI-generated images on social media with the intention of damaging the reputation of the government and DNCC,” he said.

Providing an update on waste removal activities, the DNCC administrator said waste from four permanent and temporary cattle markets under the corporation had already been completely cleared.

He expressed hope that cleaning operations at the remaining cattle markets would also be completed within a very short time.

The administrator assured city dwellers that DNCC would continue efforts to maintain cleanliness and improve urban services throughout the capital.
