BHOLA, June 3: Three children drowned in separate incidents in Lalmohan and Monpura upazilas of the district on Wednesday.
The deceased were Jaima Rahman, the one-and-a-half-year-old daughter of Md Jamshed, a resident of Ward No. 2 of Badarpur Union, and Md Shahadat, the four-year-old son of Md Anwar, a resident of Ward No. 2 of Kalma Union in Lalmohan Upazila, and Sajib, the six-year-old son of Jasim Hawlader, a resident of Ward No. 7 of Hazirhat Union in Monpura Upazila.
According to local sources, Jaima and Shahadat fell into the pond while playing near their house in Badarpur and Kalma Unions of Lalmohan in the morning without the knowledge of their family members.
After some time, their relatives started searching for them in the vicinity. At one stage, they were rescued with the help of locals and taken to Lalmohan Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared them dead.
At the same time, child Sajib drowned in water while playing near his house in Hazirhat Union of Monpura Upazila. Later, local people rescued him and took him to the Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.
