One dies in Jamalpur road accident

A youth was killed in a head-on collision between an auto-rickshaw and a motorcycle in Sarishabari on Saturday on the main road near Nayapara Mosque in Sanakair area of the upazila.

The deceased was Md Apon (18) son of Anisur Rahman of Gopinathpur village under Digpait Union in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila.

The police said that Apon was riding the motorcycle at high speed when it collided head-on with a three-wheeler autorickshaw coming from the opposite site. He sustained critical injuries in the crash.

Locals rescued him and took to Jamalpur General Hospital, where on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Sub-Inspector Chan Mia of Sarishabari Police Station said police seized both the Mahindra three-wheeler and the motorcycle from the scene.
