2 children raped in two districts

Two children were allegedly raped in Rajarhat Upazila of Kurigram District and Baraigram Upazila of Natore District in two days.

RAJARHAT, KURIGRAM: Locals have detained an old man named Ayub Ali, 65, on charges of raping an 11-year-old girl in the upazila and handed him over to the police.

Police and locals said that at 9:30 am on Wednesday, Ayub Ali brought the 11-year-old girl to his house in Telipara Village of the same union and forcibly raped her. On hearing the girl’s screams, people captured Ayub Ali and handed him over to the police after a mob lynch.

BARAIGRAM, NATORE: Another man named Ahad Ali, 65, has been accused of raping a nine-year-old orphan girl in the upazila.

Police and locals said that Ahad Ali cleverly took the girl inside the house and forcibly raped her. Later, when the child went home in a bloody state and told her mother, Ahad Ali asked them both to keep the matter secret otherwise threatened to kill them. Later, Ruma Begum, the wife of Ahad Ali’s younger brother, got the child treated and also pressured her to keep the matter secret. 

But recently, when the child revealed the matter, there was a sensation in the area. Later, upon receiving the news, her elder brother came home from work and filed a case with the police station. Baraigram PS OC Abdus Salam said that a case has been filed in this connection and efforts are underway to arrest the accused.
