The newly formed government of Bangladesh is committed to implementing comprehensive information technology and cybersecurity initiatives.

State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury made the remarks on Friday while inaugurating Phoenix Summit-2026 at Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center in the capital city of Dhaka.

The five-day event focuses on digital resilience and protecting critical national infrastructures from cyberattacks.
Organizers from TheTeamPhoenix Group expect more than 10,000 participants to attend the summit, which is supported by the ICT Division and the National Cyber Security Agency.

“Our government has several plans related to IT and cybersecurity,” Yasser said during his address. “Although we have only recently taken office, we are committed to gradually implementing these initiatives.”

The summit brings together policymakers, industry leaders, and academics to address evolving global cyber threats. ASM Shamim Reza, Founder and Chief of Research of TheTeamPhoenix Group, said that cybersecurity is now an essential component of national security, economic stability, and digital sovereignty.

Technical workshops covering ransomware defence, application security, and vulnerability management began on June 23, 2026, prior to the official opening.

The programme will conclude on Saturday afternoon. Fakir Mahbub Anam, Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, is scheduled to attend the closing ceremony as the chief guest.
