HABIGANJ, June 30: The Fandrail-Shribau road in Chunarughat Upazila of Habiganj has fallen into a severely deteriorated condition, causing serious sufferings for locals and students.
Locals said the nearly one-kilometre stretch from Fandrail railway line area to Shribau Government Primary School has remained unrepaired for a long time and has now become nearly impassable.
They said the road turns into mud even after light rainfall, making it extremely difficult for students to commute to school and for residents to travel.
Students, especially young children, are facing regular difficulties in attending classes due to the poor condition of the road, they added.
Residents said repeated appeals for repair work have gone unanswered, with no effective initiative taken so far to improve the condition of the road.
They demanded urgent stone soling on an emergency basis to make the road usable.
Locals have also urged the Member of Parliament SM Faisal to visit the area and take immediate steps to repair the road.
They said the road is essential for education and daily movement, and its poor condition is severely disrupting normal life in the area.
