Free seeds, fertiliser distributed among farmers in 3 UZs

The government has launched its agricultural incentive programme for the Kharif-2 season of the 2025-26 fiscal year in Char Fasson Upazila (UZ) of Bhola District, Kaliganj of Gazipur and Kulaura of Moulvibazar, distributing free seeds and chemical fertilisers among thousands of small and marginal farmers to boost Aman paddy cultivation and agricultural production.

The programme aims to expand cultivation, reduce production costs, promote modern farming practices and strengthen the country's food security through support for small and marginal farmers.

CHAR FASSON, BHOLA: The government on Tuesday launched its agricultural incentive programme for the Kharif season of the 2025-26 fiscal year in Char Fasson Upazila of Bhola, distributing free seeds, fertiliser, saplings and other farm inputs among 18,000 small and marginal farmers.

The distribution programme was inaugurated at the Upazila Parishad conference room by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rumana Afroz.

Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Md Nazmul Huda delivered the welcome address. Among others, former Char Fasson Upazila BNP Vice-President Kaysar Ahmed Kamal and former general secretary Motahar Hossain Alamgir Malotiya spoke at the programme.

Officials of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), sub-assistant agriculture officers, political and social leaders, journalists and farmers from different parts of the upazila attended the event.

Under the programme, farmers received Aman paddy seed, summer vegetable seed, hybrid chilli seed, chemical fertiliser, and other agricultural inputs free of cost. As part of the Prime Minister's tree plantation initiative, 10,000 saplings were also distributed.

Later in the day, the upazila administration and the Upazila Agriculture Office inaugurated a day-long fruit festival on the Agriculture Office premises with the theme, "Let's cultivate fruits and preserve them throughout the year."

KULAURA, MOULVIBAZAR: Free seed and fertiliser distribution programme was inaugurated on Tuesday on the Upazila DAE office premises by UNO Sanjida Akter.

The programme, organised by the upazila administration and the Department of Agricultural Extension, was presided over by Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Jasim Uddin.

He said that under the programme, a total of 4,335 farmers in Kulaura will each receive five kilograms of Aman paddy seed, 10kg of DAP fertiliser and 10kg of MOP fertiliser free of cost during the current Aman season.

KALIGANJ, GAZIPUR:  The programme was inaugurated on Monday on the Upazila Parishad premises by UNO ATM Kamrul Islam. 

Organised jointly by the upazila administration and the Upazila Agriculture Office, the initiative benefited 1,900 farmers.

According to the Upazila Agriculture Office, 1,800 farmers each received five kilograms of high-yielding Aman paddy seed, 10kg of DAP fertiliser and 10kg of MOP fertiliser. Another 100 farmers were provided with 10 grams of hybrid chilli seed, five kilograms each of DAP and MOP fertilisers, and necessary pesticides for summer hybrid chilli cultivation.
