Head-on collision with Mahindra kills youth in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, July 5: An 18-year-old youth was killed in a head-on collision between a Mahindra three-wheeler and a motorcycle in Sarishabari Upazila of Jamalpur on Saturday.

The accident took place around 1:00pm on the main road near Nayapara Mosque in the Sanakair area of the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Md Apon, son of Anisur Rahman of Gopinathpur village under Digpait Union in Jamalpur Sadar upazila.

According to police and local sources, the motorcycle collided head-on with an oncoming Mahindra, leaving Apon critically injured.

Locals rescued him and took him to Jamalpur General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Md Chan Mia, a sub-inspector of Sarishabari Police Station, said police seized both the Mahindra and the motorcycle from the scene.
Legal action is underway, he added.
