NARAYANGANJ, July 5: A sub-inspector (SI) and a constable of Fatullah Model Police Station have been temporarily suspended after allegedly stealing gold jewellery during a raid in Narayanganj.

The suspended officers -- SI Khairul Bashar and Constable Afiqul Islam -- were also arrested in connection with the incident, police said.

Police alleged that the officers stole gold jewellery from the house during the raid.

Following a complaint filed by Suma Akter, Fatullah Model Police Station registered a case. Police later arrested the two officers along with the two alleged informants, Miraj Islam Shuvo and Rana. The two police personnel were subsequently suspended pending departmental proceedings.

SI Khairul Bashar was produced before a court, which ordered him to be sent to jail.
