Two killed in Khulna road accident

Two people died and eight others sustained injuries when a truck rammed into two battery-run human haulers at Harintana area in Khulna city on Tuesday.

The deceased are Sheikh Didarul Haque, 30, son of Obaidul Haque, and Tapash Hor, 60, son of Binodhar Hor of Paikgachha upazila.

The accident occurred in front of Harintana Palli Bidyut office on Khulna-Satkhira Highway at around 3:30pm when the Satkhira-bound truck from Khulna hit a human hauler, locally known as easy-bike.

Immediately after the collision, another easy-bike crashed into the rear of the truck and the truck overturned after the accident, leaving two people dead the spot and eight others injured, said Rezaur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police.

On information, police and fire service personnel rushed in and conducted a rescue operation.

The injured were taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
