Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has announced that the Strait of Hormuz will be temporarily closed until further notice, Middle East Eye reported.
The IRGC said in a statement that any attempt to use "illegal waterways" or foreign interference in the Strait of Hormuz would be severely dealt with.
The statement also said that several ships had disobeyed orders to return to their designated waterways. One of the ships had turned off its tracking system, endangering maritime safety. The ship was later stopped after warning shots were fired.
The IRGC also said that no ships will be allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz until US interference in the area stops.
They also warned of a strong response if there are any new attacks or violations of the rules.
