A total of 79,246 students have been awarded scholarships after participating in the 2025 Primary Scholarship Examination. Among them, 32,965 students received Talent Pool Scholarships, while 46,281 students were awarded General Scholarships.

The results were made public at a press briefing at the International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka. Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon formally released the results.

Of the 32,965 talent pool scholarships awarded, 26,375 went to government school students and 6,590 to non-government school students.

Among the 46,281 general scholarships, government school students received 36,420 and non-government school students got 9,861.

A total of 78,810 schools took part in the examination, including 65,605 government and 13,205 non-government institutions.

Officials said 645,041 students registered for the examination, of whom 419,982 (65.11%), sat for the test. Among examinees, 344,127 were from government schools and 75,855 from non-government schools.

Among the scholarship recipients, 35,892 were boys, making up 45.29 percent, and 43,354 were girls, accounting for 54.71 percent.

The announcement came days after a section of the results was leaked online, triggering criticism. The results were originally scheduled for release last Thursday. Results for nine districts of Dhaka division were uploaded to a web portal link on the morning of July 9, ahead of official disclosure. General users accessed the results from the link and shared them widely on social media, sparking controversy.

The primary education ministry has since suspended Md Mehtab Kayes, assistant maintenance officer at the Directorate of Primary Education, over the incident. He had been tasked with preparing the upload link but was instructed not to publish results before official clearance. The ministry issued a suspension order last Friday under the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, citing misconduct. The Directorate of Primary Education has also formed a committee to investigate the matter.

The examination was held nationwide from April 15 to 18, except in the three hill districts of Rangamati, Khagrachhari and Bandarban, where it was held from April 17 to 20 under a separate schedule.

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj and Directorate of Primary Education Director General Shahina Ferdousi were present at the event, along with other senior officials.
