Waterlogging on roads in various parts of the capital, caused by overnight rain, has led several educational institutions to postpone their half-yearly and mock examinations.
The Met Office says 82mm of rain fell between 6am and noon on Sunday, with the downpour continuing past midday.
Dhaka District Education Officer Shahrin Khan Rupa tells bdnews24.com, “Several educational institutions in the capital have postponed exams due to the bad weather. Some institutions asked us whether they should postpone exams, and many of them did.
“All educational institutions in Nawabganj Upazila have postponed their exams. Some institutions in the capital managed to hold their morning exams but postponed the afternoon ones. Some postponed both sessions.”
A teacher says Viqarunnisa Noon School and College has postponed the half-yearly exam for Class 9, the mock exam for class 10, and the practical exam for class eleven due to the bad weather.

Millat High School in the capital has postponed exams for both its primary and secondary sections due to the bad weather and waterlogging from continuous rain, the institution said on its Facebook page.
Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College authorities have issued a notice postponing the annual exam for Class 11.
BTCL Ideal School and College in Moghbazar has also postponed Sunday’s exams, according to the institution’s Facebook page.
Sher-e-Bangla Balika Mahavidyalaya in Old Dhaka has issued a notice postponing all of Sunday’s exams across its primary, secondary and college sections.
Willes Little Flower School and College has issued a notice postponing all of Sunday’s exams.
BCIC College in Mirpur has issued a notice postponing Sunday’s exams for Classes 4, 6, 7, and 9. Nawabganj Government Pilot High School’s acting principal, Muhammad Abdul Mannan, has issued a notice postponing Sunday’s mock and half-yearly exams. Monipur High School has published a notice on its Facebook page postponing all of Sunday’s exams.
Bir Sreshtho Noor Mohammad Rifles Public School and College has issued a notice postponing all exams from Classes 6-10. -bdnews24
